65th Reunion – May 25 – 28, 2017
Dear Classmates & Friends,
In the words of our leader, Abe Claude, our 65th Reunion is our “last hurrah.”
Please make your plans to join us in New Haven May 25-28, 2017! All indications are that we will have a record setting turnout for a 65th reunion and this will be a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with friends and classmates. The reunion schedule will offer an array of appealing Class of 1952 events as well as Yale reunion events from which to choose. We promise you good meals, great collegiality and a most festive atmosphere at our reunion headquarters in beautiful Jonathan Edwards College.
Last fall many of you pre-registered for the reunion, letting us know whether you would be able to come or not. Now we are asking you to register, choose which meals you will be having with us, and sign up and pay for on-campus housing.
The reunion fee is $0 for you and your 1st guest. You will be asked to pay reunion fees for any additional guest. Even though there may be no fees for you and your guest, the AAY must know that you are coming in order to have counts for meals and other activities.
Please click here for the complete reunion schedule. Two important points at the outset: the reunion will be free for you and one guest (yes you will have two free lunches!). You must pay full reunion fees for any additional guests. Also, there will be no loud music or after-dinner speakers on either night.
The Class of 1952 will have many of its own special and unique events. If you would like to attend the Mory’s Lunch, Thursday from 12-2, contact Mory’s directly at (203) 562-3157 for a reservations and mention Yale ’52. Payment is by cash or credit card. Space is limited, so reserve early!
Additionally, there will be presentations by classmates Tod Lewis and Colin Eisler as well as several interest group discussions led by other classmates (lineup being finalized). Saturday afternoon we will join together at St. Thomas More Chapel for the class memorial service to remember those classmates no longer with us. Please also be sure to plan to attend some of the wonderful lectures and tours presented by Yale on both Friday and Saturday mornings.
If you have written a book or produced a meaningful piece of art work, bring it with you so it can be displayed in the JE Common Room throughout the Reunion (where we will also have playing in the background the famous Lemon/White video from our 50th reunion).
We especially want to welcome the widows of our classmates to join us as complimentary guests of the Class of 1952. Our goal is to make this a great experience for all! In an effort to make our 65th Reunion available to all classmates, financial assistance (for the cost of on-campus housing) will be available. Please contact Jennifer Julier in the AYA office, at (203) 436-8014 or via email at email@example.com for a private discussion.
Just a note that we will share our reunion headquarters with some members of Yale’s most senior classes (1951 and older) who will be joining us for some meals. I hope you will welcome these fellow Elis and their guests, who are invited back to reunions every year, as we will be starting in 2018.
While the downtown reunion hotel blocks are already full, there are a number of hotels outside of downtown New Haven which can accommodate you. There are rooms available at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites New Haven (203) 562-1111, located on Long Wharf, this hotel will be serviced by the reunion shuttles. Additionally, downtown hotel rooms do become available from time to time, especially in the late spring.
Our reunion headquarters will be in centrally located Jonathan Edwards College and there will be on-campus housing available in both Jonathan Edwards College and Baker Hall. Baker Hall is located on Tower Parkway near Payne Whitney Gym and offers air conditioning and elevators as well as in-suite bathrooms. If you are interested in on-campus housing you can select your preference as part of the reunion registration process.
Be sure to revisit this website to see the number that have already indicated they plan to attend. If your friends’ names do not appear, call them!
Abe Claude and our Class Council affirm that we look forward to a memorable time in May in New Haven with you and yours!
